Time for just a little extra Glengoyne
|

Glengoyne 12 yo (43%, OB, +/-2021) 
I have not tried the 12 since round 2012. It was once an excellent dram in my e book (WF 84). Color: straw. Nostril: pure barley, with touches of citronella and even coriander leaves, just a little recent metallic (iron), then wee whiffs of spent grapes (sherry?) and toasted brioche served with custard. Beautiful. Mouth: typical entry-level malt whisky that is not that entry-level, sitting considerably between Glenlivet and Glenfiddich, solely with just a little extra tartness and extra grassy natural teas (cherry stem, peach leaves…) Extra oak spices have a tendency to return out afterward, making it maybe a tad bitter(ish) and just a little bitter(ish). End: somewhat lengthy, grassy, with some cinchona, some spritz, ginger beer… Feedback: excellent, as anticipated, I am much less a fan of the greeny and spicy palate. I had believed it could be just a little rounder.

Glengoyne ‘The Legacy Chapter Two’ (48%, OB, 1st fill oloroso sherry, bourbon and refill casks, 2020)

Glengoyne 19 yo 1996/2016 (55%, Cadenhead, Wine Cask, Château ‘Lafitte’, 240 bottles)

Glengoyne 36 yo 1984/2021 ‘Russell Household Single Cask’ (50.2%, OB, refill sherry butt, cask #1549, 402 bottles)

End: somewhat lengthy, superbly drier, with touches of muscovado and at all times these splendid walnuts. Previous whiskies are likely to get a wee tad weaker at this stage, not this one. Love these notes of Spanish ham within the aftertaste (belotta). Feedback: fairly elegant outdated Glengoyne, matured to perfection for the great thing about sport.
