Summer season Duets
Two Bunnahabhain
of fine age
(this to flooded Germany and Belgium)

Bunnahabhain 33 yo 1987/2021 (49.5%, Maltbarn, sherry cask) 
Oh my god the 1987s are already 33, the age of Christ. Color: gold. Nostril: correct good refill sherry and moderately lots of one in all malt whisky’s most important components, time, which might translate into overripe apples, mint, camphor and pure outdated beeswax. Pollen too, williams pears, just a little barley syrup, then one thing round fig wine and oriental pastries (orange blossom, almonds, honey, rosewater…) A contemporary field of Turkish delights straight from Istanbul’s outdated Atatürk Airport (pre-Erdogan); additionally some outdated furnishings polish. Bunnahabhain 28 yo 1991/2020 (50.5%, The Excellent Fifth, 165 bottles)

Mouth (neat): much more so, that is very tight, just a little smoky, definitely mineral, lemony, form of ‘muddy’ in a great way, just a little sooty, grassy, barely fermentary… Should you like, we’re moderately extra within the cluster of HP, Cly, Spr and all. Which could not be dangerous information. With water: maybe the lacking hyperlink between the gentler praline-led older batches and the newer, tighter, extra coastal, extra phenolic fashion of Bunnahabhain. I am discovering this beautiful good, whereas it might go on and on with inexperienced citrus and earthy herbs. End: Feedback: just about a shock however we did attempt these batches on the distillery once they (and we) had been youthful. Glad that they discovered their approach… to our tasting glass. Very good whisky, I am afraid these batches are actually to be taken very severely. Extraordinarily severely.
