The scholarship initiative is judged by a panel of worldwide acclaimed mixology and bar luminaries, who reviewed essays submitted by 116 bartenders in 32 international locations in North America, Africa, Asia, Europe and South America.
Hanna Lee, president and founding father of HLC, mentioned: “Bartending is a noble occupation and a really international group, and we’re dedicated to bringing consciousness to this worthy profession path.
“With so many transferring essays submitted by passionate, devoted and artistic bartenders from around the globe, we all know that selecting the scholarship winners was no simple activity. We salute our international judging mentors for his or her arduous work and all of the candidates who’re altering the lives of their visitors and making an influence on how all of us reside, socialise, and naturally, drink,” Lee added.
The company is earmarking US$18,000 for the 18 bartenders, divided equally, as a celebration of the company’s 18th anniversary.
Fully self-funded by HLC, the scholarship is a giving again to the group initiative, designed to assist broaden the horizons of bartenders. It additionally helps help their journey to key international cocktail and bar conferences to teach, community and encourage each other.
The 18 winners hail from three US and 15 worldwide cities, together with: Abuja (Nigeria), Accra (Ghana), Atlanta (US), Bangkok (Thailand), Berlin (Germany), Cape City (South Africa), Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), London (UK), Manizales (Colombia), Marikina (Philippines), New York (US), Port Harcourt (Nigeria) and West Orange, NJ (US).
The scholarship recipients selected seven conferences, together with the Athens Bar Present, Bar Convent Berlin, Barra México, London Cocktail Week, Singapore Cocktail Competition, Sydney Bar Week and Tales of the Cocktail.
