The Empire Strikes Again Darkish Ale

Impressed by the Star Wars unique trilogy, the Pop Tradition Brews podcast crew set out on an intergalactic mission to create beer recipes impressed by episodes IV, V, and VI. See all three Star Wars-inspired beer recipes right here.

For the second episode within the trilogy—The Empire Strikes Again (1980)—Pop Tradition Brews cohost Paul Crowther (aka The Mad Brewer) created a beer recipe that captures the movie’s darker, extra sinister tone.

Including Carafa III, a dark-roasted barley, makes the recipe darker (~45 SRM) and instills some delicate roasted notes within the aftertaste. Whereas this beer is impenetrably darkish in comparison with its Episode IV predecessor, The Empire Strikes Again Darkish Ale continues to be bursting filled with Citra hop taste, reflecting the lighter moments of Episode V. It exhibits how simple it’s to go to the Darkish Aspect.

Brew or brew not. There isn’t a strive.
