Komos introduces Añejo Reserva, the most recent addition to the model. Conceptualized and based by former Grasp Sommelier Richard Betts and entrepreneur Joe Marchese, Komos combines artistry in tequila-making with inspiration from Betts’ wine-making background. Moreover, the handmade ceramic Komos bottles recall Mediterranean traditions and are designed to be simply upcycled.

Añejo Reserva is made in Mexico utilizing 100% Blue Weber Agave, hand-harvested from each the highlands and lowlands of the Tequila Valley. The Añejo Reserva expression is aged for at least 12 months in specifically chosen barrels together with French oak white wine, American bourbon, and sherry casks, after which blended. The ultimate contact is to aerate the tequila to make the mouthfeel softer and smoother, whereas including a richness and roundness. The results of this method is a  distinctive expression which highlights the chocolate and fruit flavors imparted by the sherry casks. 

With this newest addition to the Komos assortment, the crew continues to steer sustainability efforts in Tequila, Mexico, repurposing byproduct waste from tequila manufacturing and turning it into adobe bricks given to the neighborhood to construct housing, faculties, hospitals and different native infrastructure tasks.

Añejo Reserva – GSN’s Remarks: A semi-piquant nostril that immediately reminds us of Mexican cooking spice blends. Spherical, mushy and mellow fragrance with oak toast notes. Easy, creamy and dessert-like mouthfeel and taste, filled with vanilla bean, and greater than a touch of tannic crispness. A self assured tequila representing the epitome of the artwork of spirits growing older. Medium-light physique, with a protracted end, ending on a touch of toasted marshmallow. GSN Ranking: A++

Añejo Cristalino – GSN’s Remarks: Hefty vanilla on the nostril, with an extremely clear and snappy agave scent. The flavour is phenomenal, with a heat, barely fruity, vanilla-laced style expertise. Hints of mint, cream, inexperienced tea and oak wooden all add as much as a properly rounded profile. The physique is medium-light, whereas the end is lengthy and ends on a barely grainy word much like a high quality saké. GSN Ranking: A+

Further Añejo – GSN’s Remarks: Gentle woodfire, brown bread, cocoa and darkish caramel on the nostril. Surprisingly fruity and with a mushy citrus bent to the palate. A curious floral style creeps in, reminscent of violets. Fairly surprising.  Medium physique with a protracted gently descending end. An uncommon tequila that retains you in your toes.
