Glen Spey 11 yo 2010/2021 (55%, The Cooper’s Alternative, Calvados cask end, cask #803006, 354 bottles) 
I do know it’s going to infuriate just a few good buddies if I write that this is perhaps one other in-cask meta-blend of malt whisky with a totally completely different spirit. Which doesn’t, naturally, imply that it could not be a really good drop, let’s put our beret on and see what offers… Color: straw. Nostril: it’s unattainable to not discover cider apples in there, nevertheless it’s true that we frequently discover apples in whiskies which have by no means seen any in a single kind or one other. Very tight nostril, on inexperienced fruits certainly, plus plenty of chalk, Sancerre-style. A bit of scorching, water ought to make it much less tense. With water: paraffin, contemporary almonds and bits of yellow peaches, plus contemporary raisin rolls and even croissants. Croissants and calvados, that is a correct breakfast! Glen Spey 13 yo 2008/2021 (56.8%, Fable Whisky, The Ghost Piper of Clanyard Bay, Chapter 11, cask #801891, 284 bottles)
You’ll nearly imagine the good, nice Cuban painter Wilfredo Lam did this label, had he not died in 1982. Color: pale white wine. Nostril: precisely on the distillate, this might have been matured in stoneware, concrete casks, amphoras or else. Barley eau-de-vie, overripe apples, marzipan and extra contemporary croissants. With water: moderately extremely, I am discovering a bit younger calvados. Mouth (neat): barley sweetness, tart apples, candied sliced pears (sensible stuff), then a bit grass, stalk, grape pips, peel… Creamy physique. With water: extra inexperienced pepper, lime pores and skin, stalk, I could not not point out a tart white Sancerre as soon as extra. They are saying one can not change his personal nature. End: medium; related, no additional growth whereas that is no unhealthy information. Feedback: extremely near the Cooper’s Alternative, superb and, as we generally say, near nature.
