A flash verticale of middle-aged Glen Grant

Glen Grant 24 yo 1998/2022 (51.1%, Chapter 7, bourbon hogshead, cask #6454, 254 bottles) 
Color: straw. Nostril: proof that Glen Grant could be a lot fatter than we are likely to consider. Sunflower oil, engine oil, then chalk and uncooked wool, cider apples, a pack of lemon drops, some inexperienced gooseberries. Fats and zesty on the similar time. With water: swims like a champ. Papayas, pears, mangos, fruit salad, cassata, contemporary baguette and sourdough bread. Wow, pretty. Mouth (neat): fantastic tight and, certainly, fattish arrival, geared in the direction of doughs, contemporary breads, bits of lemon zests and extra chalky components. We will name this one too a ‘Sancerre-y’ malt. With water: extra Sancerre, with a salty and peaty facet that comes slightly surprising. End: lengthy, tight and appropriately vertical, but the mouth really feel stays sort of fats all alongside. Inexperienced apples within the aftertaste. Feedback: completely fantastic, within the fashion of some older ‘pure’ GGs by G&M. You recognize, the ‘pale’ vattings. Very high-class.

Glen Grant 23 yo 1998/2021 (52.7%, The Whisky Company, sherry hogshead, 273 bottles) 
Color: gold. Nostril: greener, extra citrusy, maybe extra advanced as effectively, extra on cider apples and lemons, limestone, candlewax, paraffin, sunflower oil as soon as extra, extra lemons, extra limes… Effectively, appears to be like like It is simply one other distinctive Glen Grant. Glen Grant 24 yo 1995 + 1997 (49.8%, WhiskySponge, refill barrel and refill hogshead, 443 bottles)
Slightly hen advised me that The Sponge was a lover of previous Glen Grant and of any correct sequels… Color: straw. Nostril: similar ballpark, clearly, even when this one has much more rootiness, from wild candy carrots to parsnips and delicate radishes, to not point out gentian. Then whiffs of graphite and liquorice wooden, celeriac, slightly porridge and muesli, walnut skins… Mouth: a lot love for this earthy and really gentiany combo. Extra wild carrots, lemon zests, samphires and dried herbs, thyme, mushrooms, and certainly some fino sherry, with some tight mustard and inexperienced walnuts – even when there wasn’t any sherry concerned right here. End: lengthy, natural and earthy. Extra fruits within the aftertaste, with additionally some yellow chartreuse and verbena liqueur. And mirabelles. Feedback: it is a drier, tighter one and it is completely lovable. Nice multi-vintage bottle by The Sponge, that marine animal ought to speak with Rhum J.M. in Martinique.

Glen Grant 23 yo 1995/2019 (51%, The Maltman for Shinanoya, In The Black, Japan, sherry cask, cask #11, 283 bottles)
Color: gold. Nostril: it is a comparatively rounder one, with extra delicate waxes, extra floral notes too (dandelion), extra butterscotch and even coconut (just a few drops of liqueur), blancmange, then these pretty aromas that may have a tendency to come back with good sherry, right here milk chocolate, raisins, walnut cake and espresso.
