Behind the Espresso Previous Original Cocktail at Sweetbriar in New York


Bartender Tyler Ledbetter created this cocktail with the intent of marrying the wealthy flavors of the Espresso Martini with the spirit-forward profile of a traditional Previous Original.

He chosen Cantera Negra Cafe liqueur for its capacity to enrich, moderately than overpower, the Brother’s Bond Bourbon that serves as the bottom. The liqueur’s pure agave sweetness, with hints of vanilla and occasional, pairs superbly with the bourbon’s caramel smoothness and delicate smokiness. A splash of Ruby Port provides a contact of purple colour and depth, whereas orange bitters and recent orange peel present a citrusy steadiness. Espresso Previous Original

Components


  • 2 oz. Brother’s Bond Bourbon
  • ½ oz. Cantera Negra Cafe Espresso Liqueur
  • ¼ oz. Fonseca Ruby Port
  • 2 dashes Orange Bitters



Preparation

  1. Mix all components in a mixing glass.
  2. Stir components.
  3. Serve in rocks glass over huge dice.
  4. Categorical orange peel, then discard.
  5. Garnish with a Luxardo Maraschino Cherry.
