Bowmore 18 12 months Outdated (2022)

Bowmore 18 Year Old (2022)

I already reviewed Bowmore 18 Years 4 years in the past, however since then it obtained a reworked label design. It by no means hurts revisiting some classics every now and then. It’s a mixture of ex-bourbon and Oloroso casks.

Bowmore 18 yo (43%, OB +/- 2022)

Nostril: a pleasant mixture of smoke and chocolate. Heat ashes, mingling with brown sugar, blackberry and raspberry jam and good tobacco notes. Dry seaweed and orange peels beneath. Just a little vanilla. Leathery notes as nicely. In the long run a touch of sweetened black tea seems.

Mouth: a fruity aspect at first (blackcurrants, darkish plums, raisins) with a barely floral and mentholated freshness. Nothing perfumy although, in case you began to be afraid. Then extra chocolate hints and an orange peel be aware. Mid-palate it’s missing a little bit of punch however there’s cheap peat and depth. Oily notes in the direction of the tip.

End: medium size, with extra ashy notes, orange peels, raisins and cocoa.

A properly balanced Islay whisky, although maybe too mild for some as a result of modest ABV. Higher than I remembered in any case. A sensible choice when you’re in search of one thing smoky with sherry affect. Obtainable from The Whisky Alternate and Grasp of Malt amongst others.
