Caperdonich 2000 (TWE unique) | WhiskyNotes evaluation

Caperdonich 2000 (TWE exclusive)

We have now already reviewed a few the latest Signatory Classic bottlings unique to The Whisky Trade. We proceed our exploration with this Caperdonich 2000.

A well-known distillery in fact, however not one of the Nineteen Nineties-2000 distillates managed to blow my socks off (keep in mind Pernod-Ricard closed the distillery in 2001). I just lately had WhiskySponge launch although, and this might be a sister cask.

Caperdonich 21 yo 2000 (56,9%, Signatory Classic for The Whisky Trade 2021, hogshead #29485, 256 btl.)

Nostril: good and candy, however principally candy oak and never the fruit basket I hoped for. Vanilla cake, hints of coconut cream and almond paste. Pancakes with syrup. Stewed pears, oranges, in addition to whiffs of banana pie with cream. Heat pencil shavings too.

Mouth: equally creamy however fruitier now, with a nice oily texture. Stewed orchard fruits, honeyed notes and peach sweet. Barley syrup. Loads of creamy vanilla custard and coconut. Candied ginger and hints of white pepper. Caramelized apple, grape juice, extra almond paste and yellow raisins too.

End: lengthy, candy and oily. Fruit syrup and loads of oak spice ultimately.

A really creamy whisky with a powerful (bourbonny) texture, a thick sweetness and a spherical oaky heat. Trendy whisky from good wooden. Not precisely according to the well-known Nineteen Seventies expression although, on which the value is partly based mostly. Solely out there from The Whisky Trade.
