Celebrating London Cocktail Week – new podcast! |

As born and bred Londoners, we’re at all times happy when we have now any alternative to shine a light-weight on all that’s nice about our beloved capital.

We begin with our two merchandise: East London Liquor Firm Kew Gin made in, you guessed it, East London, then take our tastebuds West to Chiswick to pattern Sipsmith Cacao & Orange Gin.

Our ebook is ‘The Cocktail Cupboard – The artwork, science and pleasure of blending the proper drink’ by London-based flavour professional Zoe Burgess and as London Cocktail Week is in full swing, we spotlight just a few of the numerous occasions happening in each nook of the capital.

Our visitor this week is among the OGs of the Cool Britannia bar scene, Nick Strangeway, who displays on the London bar scene, previous and current.

What we’re mixing:

Shaky Pete’s Ginger Brew
Created by Pete Jeary

Substances:
50ml selfmade ginger syrup*
50ml freshly-squeezed lemon juice
35ml London Dry Gin (we used Beefeater)
100ml London Pleasure ale

Methodology:
In a blender, blitz the ginger syrup, lemon juice, gin and half a cup of cubed ice for 10 seconds so ro. Pressure via a rough sieve right into a frozen beer mug, so you continue to have just a few ice chips in with the drink. Prime with the London Pleasure and drink straight from the glass, as you’d a beer.

*Ginger syrup

150g recent root ginger, peeled and sliced
350g caster sugar
250ml water

Over a low warmth, deliver all of the substances to the boil. Cool, pressure, bottle, refrigerate.

Recipe from Hawksmoor at House
