Harvest begins in Washington | Sean P. Sullivan


Harvest bought underway this week underneath hazy skies in Columbia Valley. Treveri Cellars, a glowing producer in Yakima Valley, kicked issues off, selecting 20 tons of Chardonnay from Hilltop Winery on the night of August eleventh. The fruit was picked at 19.5 Brix and three.11pH. Winemaker Christian Grieb reported cluster dimension was down roughly 15% from historic averages. Treveri additionally picked 14 tons of property Chardonnay on August twelfth at 17.1 Brix and three.01pH. 

White wine harvest has additionally begun, with Principle Wine selecting Sauvignon Blanc at its Willow Crest Winery in Yakima Valley on August twelfth. This similar fruit was picked on September third in 2020, fifth in 2019, twelfth in 2018, twenty seventh in 2017, sixth in 2016, and August thirty first in 2015 (see desk). This 12 months is the earliest that this fruit has ever been picked.
