The newest single malt launch from the Orkney-based distillery Highland Park is Cask Power No.4.
This comes because the distillery prepares for its 225th anniversary in September.
Cask Power No.4 sees Highland Park use a mixture of ex-bourbon and ex-port casks for the primary time on this collection. This expression matured predominantly in first-fill sherry seasoned European oak casks, together with first-fill ex-bourbon casks, first-fill sherry seasoned American oak casks, first-fill ex-port hogsheads and a small amount of refill casks. These casks have been all chosen by Gordon Movement, Grasp Whisky Maker.
“For me, a cask power whisky actually celebrates a person’s whisky journey, finest loved with your individual private degree of water and ice added,” says Movement. “The peat from our residence in Orkney provides the whisky a very completely different character with fragrant heather smoke and surprising contrasts in candy and smoky flavors.”
Cask Power No.4 opens with aromas of toasted coconut, pushed by the ex-bourbon casks, together with crushed lemons and cedarwood, the corporate stories. There’s a touch of Turkish Delight within the fragrant peat smoke too, due to the affect of the ex-port casks. Flavors of pink grapefruit and rose water emerge on the palate, balanced by earthier recommendations of toasted oak and heather-rich peat, whereas the end brings spices, licorice and floral peat smoke. Neither diluted nor chill-filtered, bottled at 128.6 proof, Cask Power No.4 is out there globally from Could in restricted portions. The steered retail worth is $100 per 750-ml. bottle.
