Summer time Duets Immediately Mannochmore |
One other Distillery that doesn’t appear to collect a lot love is Mannochmore and that is precisely why, reasonably perversely, we hold attempting to style it each infrequently. What’s extra, we have had some good ones prior to now if we don’t take the Distillery’s most notorious sub-product into consideration. Loch Dhu, after all! |

Mannochmore 18 yo 1999/2018 (46%, Gordon & MacPhail, Connoisseurs Alternative, refill sherry butt, cask #10686, 670 bottles)
Color: gold. Nostril: a bit kirschy, with cherries, stalks and stems and one thing tough and a bit sizzling. Notes of wine and mead too, maybe a bit peanut butter. Not too simple to pin down. Mouth: sameish, that’s to say a bit uncooked and sizzling, with extra eau-de-vie, a sense of cider, some oak pepper, polenta, then raisins from the sherry I suppose. Feels a bit PXed however I would not wager my backside Euro on that. Tends to change into inexperienced and a bit too peppery. End: medium, uncooked, kirschy. Cherry stem tea within the aftertaste. Feedback: a reasonably powerful, un-modern child. To your previous pewter hipflask.

Mannochmore 11 yo 2009/2021 (55.1%, James Eadie, PX end, cask #356850, 299 bottles)
I had preferred a sister cask quite a bit again in July (WF 87). See, we style Mannochmore usually. Color: rosé copper amber. Nostril: not too positive this time. One thing metallic, curiously sooty, with whiffs of peonies and blood oranges, chalk, raisins, gravy, brown sauce, Bulldog sauce… Certainly fairly a combination, a tad tumultuary maybe however water could assist huge time to tidy it up, so to talk. OH and by the best way, some sides do remind me of… Loch Dhu. Ha. With water: issues are higher however it remained a bit kirschy and never that completely different from the G&M, actually. Extra sourness, cherries, mud and clay… Actually, I am not too positive. Mouth (neat): maraschino and butterscotch at first, Mon Chéri, then varied liqueur-filled sweets and a sense of chewing pipe tobacco. With water: higher, plainly we managed to get to the 80-mark this time. Raspberry Jell-O, purple cola (yep, blueberries), cherry jam… Works with our internal baby. End: medium, extra on cherry jam. Damson plums in ambush. Feedback: a variety of enjoyable right here, however it’s essential to be a cherry and blueberry freak.
