Greater than sufficient Jura single malts from impartial bottlers today. Most of them are very nice, old-school whiskies price trying out. In our glass right now is a brand new single cask bottled by Clever Dodger. Whereas it appears to have been bottled some time in the past (based mostly on 1990 + 30 years) it solely began to seem in shops simply now.
Jura 30 yo 1990 (47,2%, Clever Dodger 2021, bourbon hogshead #9005283)
Nostril: such a typical fashion with outdated waxed papers, dried wildflowers (Manzanilla) and library mud. Then a lot of completely different oils (Castor oil, sunflower, lamp oil…). Bitter almond. A delicate tough fringe of artisan however pretty impartial spirits, like outdated genever or grappa. After some time some lanolin comes out, in addition to delicate hoppy notes.
Mouth: similar fashion, filled with resinous / oily notes, now with extra ripe backyard fruits as properly (pears and greengages). Grapefruits and orange peels. The tropical notes we present in some sister casks are noticeable within the background, however barely subdued. Moist wool, extra dusty books, earthy flooring and bready notes. Hints of candy mustard. Extra fragrant genever.
End: lengthy, fairly mineral with a sure dry waxiness. Additionally hay and drops of natural tea.
Like I mentioned: price trying out. An amazing old-school profile that jogs my memory of outdated Clynelishes or extra unique malts like Glen Mhor or Banff. It’s quite un-fruity but charismatic whisky. Out there from Clever Dodger direct or from Grasp of Malt.
