The eponymous vineyard began by her and her former husband Dan, Duckhorn Vineyards, was based in 1976. The model could be among the many first to function Merlot as greater than merely a mixing grape. Duckhorn helped ignite America’s love for the grape.
Born in New York State, Margaret travelled a lot all through her life, rising up in a navy household. Her collegiate research would lead her to Germany the place she would uncover a love for wine. Margaret was a founding member of Girls for WineSense, a previous board member of the American Institute of Wine & Meals, previous president of the Napa Valley Vintners Affiliation, and previous chairman of the board of California Wine Institute.
Margaret seen Napa as her house, a spot that she had chosen to boost a household, and so stewardship and dedication to the way forward for Napa Valley have been actual and felt. Napa Valley was house for her, her household and her group.
Margaret is survived by her three kids – Kellie, John and David – her seven grandchildren and two siblings.
