Born in Peru and the grandson of a French oenologist, Edmond Borit inherited the fervour for wine throughout his visits to the household winery in Ica (southern Peru).
After shifting to Uruguay in 2008, Borit determined to revive the household viticultural custom in Maldonado, the thrilling wine area in east Uruguay, and started the search for the perfect terroir. ‘I knew that the most effective terroirs in Uruguay have been in Maldonado, particularly within the sierras (mountains).’ With this in thoughts, Borit explored the area till he discovered a virgin 100-hectare property on the Sierra de Carapé, close to the unique resort city of Punta del Este.
