Summer time Duets
Auchentoshan |
| We have had some very good Auchentoshans previously however for round ten to fifteen years, the house owners have saved releasing flavoured NASs that haven’t, of their overwhelming majority, actually impressed us. An excessive amount of wooden, not sufficient spirit. |

Auchentoshan ‘Darkish Oak’ (43%, OB, 1l, +/-2020) 
A contemporary NAS ‘a number of oak’ model that will use the standard candidates, particularly Oloroso, PX and Bourbon. Identical to anybody else… Let’s examine if that is as boring because the pedigree suggests (Ed: you are too unfavourable, S.) … Color: gold. Nostril: sawdust, cinnamon, ginger, then coconut and vanilla plus cardamom and rye bread. Then citrus that lifts it. Feels artificially aromatized however not that boring, in spite of everything, and fairly effectively executed. Mouth: in the direction of younger rye whisky, however with extra sawdust, plank, cardboard and off spices. I’d have mentioned younger ‘overseas’ whisky from a younger distillery, and positively not Scotch malt whisky. End: medium, just about on wooden spices and cinnamon mints and rolls. Feedback: acceptable however soulless, feels made within the lab. Hope they’re going to by no means be allowed to make use of oak chips.

Auchentoshan 22 yo 1998/2020 (51.8%, Chapter 7, cask # 100155, 199 bottles) 
Color: gold. Nostril: it is cool to search out some Auchentoshanness, particularly bubblegum and marshmallows plus Malibu, coconut balls and correct vanilla pods. Notes of banana wine. With water: there, the malt comes out, wholegrain bread, sourdough, additionally popcorn, hops, mild beers… Mouth (neat): candy, clear, extraordinarily typical. Huge coconut water, coconut and papaya chips, dried pears, barley syrup, and certainly a big household pack of marshmallows. For a big household. With water: excellent, relatively on pastries this time, religieuse, Paris-Brest, English pound cake (apologies), meringue-y stuff… Gears in the direction of citrus, all the time top-of-the-line finales in my guide. End: that is the place it will be a part of Bladnoch and Rosebank so far as the Lowlands’ conventional fashion was involved.
