Tomatin 1999/2013 (57.6%, OB for Royal Mile Whiskies, Hungarian Oak end, 302 bottles) Color: pale amber. Nostril: barely spiritous, sawn rosewood, treacle, bitter orange marmalade after which wee notes of kumquat and tangerine. Will get somewhat extra playfully fruity and spicy with cloves and cinnamon with a while in glass. With water: dates, plums and a common sense of ‘sticky’ fruitiness, some blood orange marmalade impressions too. Works properly with water. Mouth: sticky darkish fruits, somewhat sharp oak spiciness and likewise some greener notes of pepper and snapped twig. Nevertheless, the fruitiness stays properly juicy and simply the suitable aspect of jammy. With water: develops some fascinating teaish and beery notes. Shilling ales, jasmine tea, hibiscus, tea tree oil and one thing somewhat leathery. The oak feels somewhat too dominant now for me. End: medium in size, fairly spicy and nonetheless with this darkish, sticky and jammy fruit feeling. Feedback: many engaging qualities, you simply have to love them on the spicier / oakier aspect. SGP: 551 – 84 factors.
