Torabhaigh Allt Gleann | WhiskyNotes evaluation

Torabhaigh Allt Gleann

Torabhaig Allt Gleann is the second massive scale launch from this distillery on the Isle of Skye, a part of The Legacy Collection. It’s a closely peated single malt constructed from Concerto and Laureate barley (peated to 77 ppm) aged in first fill bourbon and refill whisky barrels. The spirit is a mixture of the 2017 and 2018 vintages.

Nostril: regardless of a fast glimpse of (alcoholic) youth, that is fairly heat and wealthy, with barely medicinal smoke, coastal brine, lemons and a few plain malty notes. Additionally salted liquorice, mint and a touch of leather-based. Just like the Torabhaig Inaugural Launch I had, this exceeds its age nevertheless it’s additionally fairly well mannered.

Mouth: barely much less convincing. There’s a peaty notice, some peppercorns and ashes, nevertheless it feels slightly mild. Some pear and melon, and an eau-de-vie notice, which give away its youth. Smoked almonds. A little bit of plain sugar and heathery notes.

End: shortish, with candy fruit, smoke and a sea breeze.

This affords an ideal baseline high quality for additional expressions and also you don’t need to trouble about its younger age. Though it’s according to the inaugural launch, it feels barely extra widespread and fewer punchy. Nonetheless out there from The Whisky Alternate.
