HERSHEY, Pennsylvania – Tröegs Unbiased Brewing broadcasts the discharge of its iconic vacation ale, Mad Elf. At the moment celebrating its twenty fifth anniversary as a brewery, Tröegs reaches one other milestone with the 20 th annual launch of Mad Elf.
Again within the fall of 2002, Tröegs co-founding brothers Chris and John Trogner hatched a plan to brew an enormous, festive Belgian-style ale with cherries and honey to take pleasure in over the vacations. Little did they know that the beer would assist put their brewery on the map and – 20 years later – turn out to be a beer that’s synonymous with the vacation season.
“Mad Elf captures so many issues concerning the holidays for thus many individuals,” says Chris Trogner. “And never simply beer lovers. Lots of people who usually don’t drink beer have a particular reference to Mad Elf.”
The essence of this once-a-year vacation ale, together with its ruby pink glow, is born from 5 forms of tree-ripened cherries. Bing, Lambert, Van, and Royal Ann contribute a vivid and juicy sweetness, and Montmorency provides a contact of tartness.
Along with cherries, Pennsylvania honey is the opposite key ingredient in Mad Elf. Every year, Tröegs sources 25,000 kilos of native wildflower honey from The Comfortable Beekeeper in close by Carlisle, PA.
Whether or not it’s the beer’s festive nature, nostalgia, decadence, flavors or whimsy, many followers really feel Mad Elf captures the vacation season in a glass.
“We prefer to say that it’s not the vacations till you’ve had your first Mad Elf,” provides John Trogner.
