Vinabar: Sydney’s latest Vietnamese-inspired micro-bar

Nestled among the many arched laneways of Kent Road and hid behind a metal door cleverly masquerading as a banh-mi cart, lies Vinabar, Sydney’s latest Vietnamese-inspired micro-bar. Spanning an area no bigger than two automotive areas, its promise echoes in its tagline: ‘Small area, massive goals.’

Upon stepping by the doorway, class and ease greet guests. Sixty silk lanterns, sourced from Hoi An, gracefully adorn the heritage picket joists, providing a charming distinction towards the black marble benchtops. Serving because the bar’s shelving is a scaled reproduction of the Golden Hand Bridge from Da Nang, enveloped by darkish reflective panels that create an phantasm of depth.

This idea marks a big milestone within the journey of Equicentia, a boutique property developer, and the Tesalona Group, a outstanding title within the restaurant trade. Helmed by Ashwin Arumugam and Reymark Tesalona, that is the duo’s first enterprise into the hospitality trade.

The menu predominantly showcases fruits indigenous to Southeast Asia, with a notable emphasis on rambutans, carambolas (starfruit), and longans. Amongst their signature cocktails is the ‘Vinagroni’ – a pecan wood-smoked negroni garnished with dehydrated carambola, crafted to resemble the Vietnamese flag.

One other crowd-pleaser is the ‘Ca Phe Martini,’ a novel rendition of the espresso martini. It includes a trace of condensed milk lining the glass’s backside and is served with a Pocky stick as a garnish, inviting patrons to stir and mix within the condensed milk as they want.
