Wee duets, at the moment Craigel-lachie

We’re not anticipating our world to get rocked at the moment, nevertheless it’s at all times good to have a brief go at these names. I’ll add that we have not noticed any actual new OB for a superb whereas, until I have never been paying consideration. Having stated, that, this assertion by homeowners Dewar’s is fairly intriguing: ‘Craigellachie is an unapologetic and distinctive whisky, sturdy and muscular with a touch of pineapple.’ Pineapple? Allyl amyl glycolate?

Craigellachie 15 yo 2006/2021 (48.5%, Decadent Drinks, Equinox & Solstice, 1st fill sherry hogshead) Four stars

Color: deep gold. Nostril: we have hardly ever been this near brandy with any middle-aged malt whisky, with preserved peaches, raisins, chocolate and prunes, however that could be this primary fill sherry. An excellent armagnac, let’s say. Or, no, quite a cognac. It will need a superb 5 minutes to get maltier, earthier, rootier and extra savoury, however I am positive that is the first fill sherry too. Mouth: Ténarèze! Spicy chocolate, black raisins, pepper, blackcurrant jelly, walnuts, espresso, drop of Maggi… Will get then a little bit Demerara-y, with a tiny smoky aspect. Some sides remind me of that well-known different Distillery that is additionally situated within the area, as it could show increasingly chocolaty raisins. End: lengthy, this time nearer to that well-known Household-owned Distillery in Ballindalloch. Pepper, raisins, bitter chocolate. Feedback: excellent basic ‘average sherry monster’ as we used to say.

SGP:462 – 86 factors.

Craigellachie 13 yo 2007/2021 (61.9%, Alister Walker Infrequent Flyers, Tiger's Finest Selection, Asia exclusive, Madeira finish, cask #1827, 299 bottles)

Craigellachie 13 yo 2007/2021 (61.9%, Alister Walker Rare Flyers, Tiger’s Most interesting Choice, Asia unique, Madeira end, cask #1827, 299 bottles) Three stars

Color: straw with faint pink hues. Was it some crimson madeira? Nostril: we’re quite in PX territories, with some candy mustard, candy grapes with their bitterer pips and skins, some outdated walnuts, vin jaune, blond pipe tobacco… With water: nicely, Madeira, walnuts, fino, PX, earth, radishes, a little bit leather-based, leaves, fruit peel… Mouth (neat): punchy and really orangey. Pepper, cloves and a big jar of marmalade. With water: again to wine international locations, with fairly some pepper, plus this candy and bitter aspect that is quite very ‘Madeira’. Extra mustard too, even a little bit horseradish. End: lengthy and actually spicy, however some good dried fruits are additionally there. Feedback: the ending actually feels, with its peppery cortege, however I do like pepper too.

SGP:561 – 82 factors.
