Rare Flyers Batch #10
Allt-a-Bhainne 16 12 months Previous
2005 classic Pedro Ximenez sherry cask #805181 at 62.3% yielding 634 bottles.
Notes from Alistair Walker:
“Nostril Oooft, what a nostril! Advanced like calculus, with a battle raging between candy and savoury! Burnt toffee, BBQ sauce, balsamic glaze, chocolate coated chorizo balls (I swear I had these at a marriage in Spain).
Style Viscous, wealthy and full-bodied. Darkish chocolate and fudge to the fore, alongside a curious however most welcome candy balsamic presence. Fairly a spicy dram; cracked black pepper and floor cinnamon aren’t shy right here. Honourable mentions too for liquified brown sugar, peanut butter and cocoa powder, which all contribute. There’s so much occurring right here. Allt-a-Bhainne or Altered Beast!?”

Allt-a-Bhainne Distillery is a much less well-known distillery which opened in 1975. Residing to the south west of Dufftown the place it catches the solar on the foot of Ben Rinnes mountain and suitably located by the Allt-a-Bhainne Burn to benefit from the rain and melting snow as they drain off the steep slopes of the Ben. Initially designed to provide gentle malt whisky to Chivas blends this distillery just lately started producing peated. While its authentic complement of two stills have been elevated to 4 in 1989 there have been few official distillery bottlings. Impartial bottlings embody Connoisseurs Alternative and First Editions.
