Little duos, at the moment younger clear Glen Elgin
|

It is mentioned that increasingly indie Glen Elgins are actually being bottled as ‘Secret Speysides’, however we’ll have some disclosed ones at the moment. What’s certain is that the instances of all undisclosed Speysides being Glenfarclas (and Cragganmore) are undoubtedly over, so smarter blind tasters, beware!

Glen Elgin 12 yo 2009/2021 (53.7%, Acla Choice, Wow Tasty!, hogshead, cask #81754) 
Pure Warholian design from Far-eastern Switzerland, on the Austrian border! Color: white wine. Nostril: that is the place you do discover the clear connection between Glen Elgin and White Horse, particularly older bottles of White Horse. Certainly that is austere, extraordinarily mineral (previous granite, sand) and filled with concrete, soot and coal mud, with solely wee bits of inexperienced pear on the fruit part. One other one which’s fairly ‘Sancerre-y’. With water: will get fruitier, extra on gummi bears and marshmallows, barley sugar, sweet floss… Mouth (neat): very inexperienced and grassy, filled with fruit peel, inexperienced plums and pears, and probably the most acidic jelly infants. Crunching leaves and grass, mendacity in a meadow, admiring the sky. With water: as soon as extra it is turning into sweeter, rounder, with a beautiful candy barleyness that makes you consider… Mom Nature. End: medium, clear, malty, with barley and banana foam. Grass is again within the aftertaste. Feedback: tasty certainly, Andy.

Glen Elgin 13 yo 2008/2021 (57%, HNWS Taiwan, hogshead, cask #807935, 260 bottles) 
Color: white wine. Nostril: similar spirit, clearly, solely with just a little extra oak affect, bananas, tiny contact of coconut and papaya, aside from that this grassy, inexperienced and mineral improvement that is working so properly. Glen Elgin is a splendidly textured pure malt whisky. Forgot to say just a little parsley. With water: precisely a Sancerre this time once more, however this one’s met some oak in its adolescence, whereas the opposite one was all ‘stainless’. Recent butter, contact of coconut, crushed banana… Mouth (neat): moderately highly effective, spicier than the Acla (and that is the wooden, clearly), with some pepper and nutmeg, then a wee sourness (cider apples). Just a bit robust when undiluted. With water: it is saved this peppery sourness, the cider apples, the inexperienced bananas… End: moderately lengthy, with extra pepper, in any other case ripe apples and a contact of pineapple. Feedback: completely wonderful, it is simply that I loved the 2009’s excessive clear aspect much more. Somewhat extra.
